.booknuttery
You looked lost, madame.
.booknuttery (a spur of the moment name, you see.) is meant to revolve entirely, completely and wholeheartedly around books. Book collections, book links, bought books, sold books, good books, horrible, hellishly bad books. Its a veritable book nerd journal full of all the impossibly cheesy books one might ever want to, be forced to, or perhaps wisely shun -- to read.
Its not meant to be anything more then what it is -- what it is being a sort of catalog for all the books I have, am reading, am buying, am thinking about. Due to this rabid book obsession I figured I needed a diary, a log, a place in which to place all these things I'm reading -- the daily ramblings of some good (or terribly Not-Good) writer that I digest every single day.
And so that, my dears, is precisely what .booknuttery is for. (And please excuse the name.)

Writing like a Freaking Maniac.
Ready, set, go.
So, I have my novel idea. I have the plot somewhat worked out, the characters... this and that. I realize completely that by the time I've reached my 50,000 words its going to be a piece of unorganized, rushed crap, but hopefully it'll get me back into the ol' writing habit and give birth to lots more ideas for the novels I plan on writing in the future.
I'm going the Grey Duck way and shall be posting a few excerpts from the daily Write here. Right now I have some minutes before I have to go pick my mom up from work -- so, I suppose it means I should get cracking, Frank.

Old, decrepid novels.
I was digging through some myriad nostalgia things today and came across one of my "novels" from Grade Eight. -- Technically, I wrote one in Grade Five, Six, Seven and Eight, then retired early due to supreme bad-novel-writing-ness.
Not to say I won't give it the ol' try again, but looking back, I feel mixtures of embarrasment, pride, and then even more embarrasment. Here are some excerpts:
"She shook her head to make the stars go away. She looked down the hall, but the figure was no where in sight. Melissa than picked up the gun and crawled over to Jack, who was barely breathing. Melissa checked for a pulse, he was almost dead. Melissa knew he had no hope, by now he was probably in a coma. Turning, she saw the small group had huddled into the room with shocked expressions on their faces." (page 10)
"Move hands move! She commanded her body, but they wouldn't. They were stuck there, frozen in the glassy water. She felt her body hit the bottom. Her lungs were crying out, ready to give up. Her mind again demanded her body to breathe, but it was lifeless. She closed her stinging eyes and lay back. She felt the infinite black swallow her up as she passed out. The black kept gnawing at her, she as tired just so tired. The thought of peace, of sleep pleased her, she wanted to die. She felt her heart stop, as she welcomed the black into her mind." (page 49)
- excerpts taken from ... -- since I'm missing part of the novel (I believe it was finished at 83 pages) I can't truly remember the name of it. I do know it was a Melissa Edwards Mystery -- the sequel to the first (Grade Five / Six) "The Eyes That Watch You In the Dark".
Mostly in Grades Seven/Eight I wrote a couple more .. 'The Haunted Cabin Trilogy' (197 pages) and 'The Flames Last Dance' (72 pages)

The main character
I think the main character of my novel is going to named Ava Loams.
For the most part, you see, I suck with names. I always tend to call people so-and-so Thompson, or Franklin, George, White, somethingman. I have a tendency to name people after names or occupations or colours.
Its just that, for the most part, all of my made-up names sound ridiculous. 'Loams' in and of itself doesn't necessarily even fit. I keep having to stop myself from crossing it out and typing in 'Farmer' or 'Stevens'.
Anyway -- Ava is the heroine of the story. I'm still constructing the world that she lives in, as well as personal history and the key characters she'll interact with. For the most part, the novel is going to be Fantasy -- sans, pretty much, knights and towers and quests for silver goblets in the claws of massive dragons.
The names of the other characters I've so-far decided on? Faith Franklin, Toby Morriseau, Zahra (or Zara) Nightshade, Lazarai and Jerry. (The latter, surprisingly enough not being a Netherworld ice cream company.) ... /end bad joke.

thankyou jeebus!
I came up with a plot! Yay!
I won't go into it more until I work it out a little bit further, but its something that was looking me in the face the whole time.
